I’m Max Burgar-Briggs, a football writer and content creator from Sheffield.
Football has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’ve been a Sheffield Wednesday season ticket holder since I was eight years old, following in the footsteps of my family and spending countless weekends at Hillsborough. Supporting Wednesday wasn’t really a choice, it was something that was passed down through generations.
Away from the stands, I have also played football throughout my life. I previously represented Sheffield FC’s Pan Disability team before moving on to Hillsborough Hornets Disability FC, where I continue to play today.
The 92nd Minute was created to combine my passion for football with my ambition to work in journalism. Through match reports, previews, interviews and video content, I aim to tell the stories that make football special, from the professional game to the grassroots and non-league clubs that are the heart of communities across the country.
I also live with several challenges that have helped shape who I am. I have right-sided hemiplegia, Addison’s disease, complex additional needs and a stammer. These conditions can sometimes make everyday situations more difficult and contribute to anxiety, particularly when speaking in unfamiliar environments or putting myself forward in new situations. However, they have also taught me resilience, determination and the importance of not letting barriers define what you can achieve.
Football has given me confidence, opportunities and a sense of belonging throughout my life. It is one of the reasons I am passionate about telling the stories of players, supporters and communities who may not always receive the attention they deserve.
Alongside running The 92nd Minute, I work as a football coach within the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme, supporting children, young people and adults with disabilities. The role has given me a deeper appreciation of football’s ability to bring people together and create opportunities for everyone to be involved in the game.
My current focus is covering Hallam FC and Sheffield Wednesday, while also following the wider Sheffield football scene. Whether it’s a Northern Premier League fixture at Sandygate, a Wednesday match at Hillsborough, or grassroots football on a Sunday morning, I believe every level of the game has stories worth telling.
As I continue my journey into football journalism, my goal is simple: to produce honest, informative and engaging football content while giving supporters a voice and shining a light on the clubs and communities that make the sport what it is.
Thanks for visiting The 92nd Minute.
